Christianity is the most prominent religion, however, the existence of traditional religious practices still remains. Most Solomon Islanders belong to one denomination and most villages have a church. Respect of their Christian beliefs, as well as traditional customs, is important in all areas of the country.

All the main denominations have churches in Honiara, with most services conducted in Pijin. It is worth attending, even if you are a non believer, as the singing is one of the local's true gifts. Respectful and smart attire should be worn, and if visiting from overseas, be prepared for a welcome during the service.
